چکیده
Sound insulation auralization can be used as valuable tool to study the perceptual aspects of sound transmission in built environments for assessment noise effects on people. It may help further develop guidelines building constructions. One advanced goal real-time is appropriately reproduce condition human perception and cognitive performance dynamic interactive situations. These depend kind signal (i.e. speech, music, traffic noise, etc.) context. This paper introduces a model. The filters are constructed virtual buildings with respect complex propagation indoor outdoor sources. approach considers source room field direct diffuse components along directivity position. transfer functions subdivided into patches from receiver room, which also covers composite elements, thus providing more detail actual Furthermore, receiving acoustics includes reverberation based its mean free path, absorption binaural between radiating walls elements listener. exact model agrees reasonably well ISO standard theory) under settings. shown that significantly influences transmitted energies via depending position source. proposed method validated general scheme details specific situations especially cases where simplified fails. capable Virtual Reality (VR) systems, opens new opportunities psychoacoustics research human.

Sound insulation in multi-story timber buildings
During on an extensive investigation of a multi-story timber building with light-frame construction, several stages of the building process and their impact on sound transmission were observed. The sound insulation properties of the building components were measured before and while the buildings were occupied. Furthermore, interviews with the occupants were conducted. This procedure made it po...
متن کاملiSound: Interactive GPU-based Sound Auralization in Dynamic Scenes
We present an auralization algorithm for interactive virtual environments with dynamic objects, sources, and listener. Our approach uses a modified image source method that computes propagation paths combining direct transmission, specular reflections, and edge diffractions up to a specified order. We use a novel multi-view raycasting algorithm for parallel computation of image sources on GPUs....
متن کاملAn Interactive and Real Time 3d Auralization System for Room Acoustics (the Auralias Project)
The AURALIAS project (www.auralias.be) aims at developing an interactive and real-time auralization system for room acoustics. The user is immersed into a virtual sound field, looking at an image of the virtual room and interacting with it through an appropriate interface. Precomputed 3D Directional Room Impulse Responses (DRIRs) are first generated by a ray tracing software. They are then conv...
متن کاملTimbreFields: 3D Interactive Sound Models for Real-Time Audio
We describe a methodology for virtual reality designers to capture and resynthesize the variations in sound made by objects when we interact with them through contact such as touch. The timbre of contact sounds can vary greatly, depending on both the listener’s location relative to the object, and the interaction point on the object itself. We believe that an accurate rendering of this variatio...
متن کاملAirborne asbestos in buildings.
The concentration of airborne asbestos in buildings nationwide is reported in this study. A total of 3978 indoor samples from 752 buildings, representing nearly 32 man-years of sampling, have been analyzed by transmission electron microscopy. The buildings that were surveyed were the subject of litigation related to suits alleging the general building occupants were exposed to a potential healt...
